Job Description

MHP Salud, a national non-profit agency conducting health education and outreach in underserved Latino communities, is currently seeking a motivated, energetic, organized, and focused Community Health Worker for Juntos Podemos program.

Juntos Podemos is a program dedicated to promoting a healthy nutrition and active lifestyles among families in the Rio Grande Valley. Through outreach, group education, and referrals, the program seeks to promote healthy life styles among Hispanic/Latino parents and caregivers of 8-13-year-old children who qualify to receive SNAP benefits or other Federal Assistance programs.  Responsibilities of the Community Health Worker may include, but are not limited to performing community outreach; facilitating group health education sessions; providing referrals to care and services; and building partnerships with local community organizations.

Ideal applicants:

  • Able to read, write, and speak both Spanish and English; fluency in spoken Spanish required
  • Have knowledge of and/or be part of the community served (Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr or Willacy County)
  • Be computer literate and have two years of applicable work experience
  • Have experience or interest in promoting healthy eating, active lifestyles, etc.

 Salary: $16.00-$18.99/hour, DOE
