Part-Time Position Available
Hidalgo and Starr Counties, Texas

 MHP Salud, a national non-profit agency conducting health education and outreach in underserved Latino communities, is currently seeking a motivated, energetic, organized, and focused Community Health Worker for Vivir una Vida Plena program.

Vivir una Vida Plena offers chronic-disease self-management education to individuals diagnosed at high risk or at early stage diagnosis for chronic diabetic kidney disease. Responsibilities of the Community Health Worker may include, but are not limited to performing community outreach; facilitating group health education sessions; providing one-on-one education; and providing referrals to care and services.

Ideal applicants:

  • Able to read, write, and speak both Spanish and English; fluency in spoken Spanish required
  • Have knowledge of and/or be part of the community served (Hidalgo or Starr County)
  • Be computer literate and have two years of applicable work experience
  • Have experience or interest in promoting healthy eating, active lifestyles, etc.

 Salary: $16.00-$18.99/hour, DOE

Benefits:

Although MHP Salud rarely hires part time or temporary employees (in 2017, less than 5% of our employees were part time or temporary), MHP Salud believes in the importance of planning for your future. If you will work over 1000 hours in a calendar year, you are immediately vested in our 403 (B) retirement plan with an employer contribution of 6.5% of your salary with an additional 2% if matched by you. You can contribute as well up to the legal limit for your age.  As you are vested in the program immediately, those dollars are yours to take with you upon termination of employment.
