Resources and Reference Materials on Community Health Worker Program Design

MHP Salud has over thirty-five years of experience developing, running and improving upon Community Health Worker (CHW) programs. Equipped with tools and resources, CHWs are able to address barriers that prevent community residents from receiving information and community resources. Through outreach and education, CHWs empower their community members to take control of and improve their own health. These resources provide tools, tips and useful resources that will help organizations maintain and improve their CHW programs. All resources are available for free and licensed to be distributed for educational use

Reporting of Community Health Workers in the Uniform Data System

With Community Health Workers (CHWs) identified as a unique staffing category in the Uniform Data System (UDS) for the first time in 2016, the number of FTEs reported has been much lower than expected (879 FTEs across 1367 grantees). Although in 2017, a slight increase was shown (1,130.36 across 1373 grantees), these figures appear inconsistent with the anecdotal evidence of widespread utilization of CHWs in Health Center settings. These inconsistencies may reflect unclear guidance on how to accurately identify and report the work of CHWs.

Training for your organization, made simple.

In addition to publishing resources and conducting our own CHW programs, MHP Salud offers a variety of training and consulting services to help organizations create and optimize their own CHW programs. When we provide these services, we put over four decades of experience to work to enhance your organization’s services and improve your overall reach.
