What Is Included?
The Cultural Humility: Seeing the Community Through Their Eyes training session helps Community Health Workers understand the concept of cultural humility and the importance of becoming lifelong learners. Participants will possess the skills to practice cultural humility by examining their own biases and using the CLAS standards in their communities, with other CHWs and on a national level. The objectives of this session are:
- Define the concept of cultural humility.
- Examine one’s own biases and how it shapes the work Community Health Workers provide to the community.
- Describe how cultural beliefs impact health and wellness.
- Identify the relationship between Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) standards and the Community Health Worker profession.
