What Is Included?
The Motivational Interviewing training session explains the principles of motivational interviewing and describes basic interaction techniques. Community Health Workers will be able to use these techniques when helping clients to change their health behavior. The objectives of this session are:
- Explain the basic principles of motivational interviewing.
- Describe the OARS of motivational interviewing. (Open-ended questions, Affirmations, Reflective Listening, Summarizing)
- Demonstrate readiness to change behavior from a client’s perspective.
- Practice strategies to produce “change talk” in clients.
