As part of MHP Salud’s Community Health Worker (CHW) training curriculum, Pasaporte participants learn about the scope of Promotor(a) work.
That’s what Training Specialist Allison Vidal-Jones explored in a hands-on, popular education style training session last month presented to the Ohio Hispanic Coalition in Columbus.
The seven-module curriculum spans several CHW training topics, from ethical responsibilities to cultural competence.
Seventeen participants at the Coalition hailed from all over Latin America, and they serve as CHWs in a diverse set of clinics offering everything from dental to maternal health care. These men and women enjoyed participatory activities that helped them develop CHW knowledge and skills.
One activity was an interactive radio play exploring the history of CHWs.
MHP Salud will continue to work with the Ohio Hispanic Coalition for three more Pasaporte modules.
