Confused by health insurance? That’s where we come in! A local Promotora/es de Salud who can help you understand your health coverage options, walk you through the complex application process and answer any question you may have – your dedicated, personal advocate.
How can I meet with a Health Insurance Navigator?
Call 956-968-3600 or email info@mhpsalud.org to make an appointment. Our Promatora/es de Salud are bilingual and can meet you when and where it’s best for you.
What type of health insurance can MHP Salud help me get?
Because we are not agents or brokers, and we are not affiliated with any insurance company, we can help you explore all coverage options you may qualify for, including health insurance through the federal Marketplace, Medicaid/CHIP and Medicare. We can also connect you with local health clinics and other community programs to support your health care.
Why do I need health insurance?
We all need health insurance. Just 1 accident, illness or disease can turn your world upside down. If you have health insurance, you can receive the care and treatment you need – without going into deep medical debt.

Who do you help?
Everyone. All ages, all backgrounds, all family settings. If you don’t have affordable health coverage, we can help you find other options. If you’ve been denied coverage in the past and don’t know why – or if the application is just too complex – we can help.
Will I be able to afford health insurance?
Yes. Many plans are $10 or less/month — and there may be financial help available. We’ll help you explore your options so cost isn’t a barrier.
Will applying for health insurance affect my legal status?
No, it will not affect your legal status – and it’s safe to ask questions. We’re here to help with care and confidentiality.
How do I know if I qualify for coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace?
You qualify if you:
Live in the U.S.
Are a U.S. citizen or lawfully present national
Qualify under income guidelines (we can help you navigate this!)
If you don’t qualify for the Health Insurance Marketplace, we can still help! There are many other options available, and we can help you find one that’s right for you.
When can I enroll in the Health Insurance Marketplace?
Open Enrollment – the time anyone can enroll – starts this November and lasts only a few weeks,
You may be able to enroll at other times of the year if you experience a major life change including:
Marriage or divorce
Birth or adoption of a child
Change in immigration status
Change in employment or income
Change in residence
Loss of health coverage, including eligibility changes for Medicaid, Medicare or CHIP
