Our Story
Our story began in 1983 when a group of Catholic sisters, religious leaders, and volunteers from Michigan witnessed the difficulty that migrant farmworkers were experiencing in accessing health care. Together with leaders in the community, they started MHP Salud’s first Community Health Worker program to connect families with needed services. In the years to follow, MHP Salud expanded its mission to support communities across the United States.
Community Health Worker programs have proven to be effective at addressing the complex issues individuals face when seeking culturally appropriate health care. Our community programs are led by CHWs and target various health and social issues such as access to health care, chronic disease control and management, healthy relationships, aging, nutrition, and more.
It’s with your continued support that we’re able to build healthy communities within some of the most remote locations in the United States.
