Join Parents as Teachers to learn about child development and receive free parenting support.

Digital Connectors is a program that provides FREE assistance exploring affordable low-cost internet and device plans options available, and enrollment in Medicaid, Medicare, SNAP, and other programs to support health and well-being of adults ages 50 and over.

A local MHP Salud Digital Connector Community Health Worker is ready to offer hands-on help. Your CHW can provide support with:

  • Applying for free or low-cost internet or device plans
  • Applying for public health benefits such as Medicaid, Medicare and SNAP
  • Other benefits to help your health and well-being

Who qualifies?

Adults ages 50+ in Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr, Willacy and Maverick counties.

Parents as Teachers

Parents as Teachers is a free service that teaches parents about child development and provides parenting support and community resource referrals through home visits with the family once or twice a month and through engaging community playgroups.

To be eligible to participate in Parents as Teachers, you must:

  • Reside in one of the following counties: Hidalgo, Cameron, Zapata, or Webb
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have at least one child under the age of 3 or be expecting a child
  • Be willing to have a Parent Educator meet with you at your home for at least 12 months
  • Early Childhood Development

  • Resource Referrals

  • Parent Support

  • Home Visits

The first three years of a child’s life are essential for laying a solid and positive foundation in all areas of their lives – education, health, behavior, and relationships.
