State CHW Certification Information
MHP Salud works closely with individual states to articulate the MHP Salud LEAD Community Health Worker curriculum to provide training opportunities to CHWs in states with CHW certification and/or Medicaid reimbursement. This may look different in each state depending on the training or certification requirements for either CHW certification or training requirements for Medicaid reimbursement.
MHP Salud is an approved training partner in the following states…
MHP Salud is approved to provide CHW Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for our CHW LEAD Foundations, Levels 1, and 2 by our certified Community Health Worker instructors. Additional sessions can be submitted for approval upon request.
Partial training accreditation through the Virginia Certification Board under two of their domains with a total of 24 hours.
- Domain 4: Advocacy, Outreach, and Engagement = 14 hours
- Domain 5: Communication = 10 hours
MHP Salud has approval from the Pennsylvania Certification Board for partial accredited training for CHW certification. Partial accreditation means all 62 LEAD training hours were accredited but the CHWs would need additional hours to be completed as the state requires 75 hours.
This collection of resources provides guidance, information, and tips for organizations interested in or already invested in starting a Community Health Worker program.
Note that all states require submission and approval of a planned training schedule to the certifying body before any training can take place. MHP Salud has over thirty years of experience implementing CHW programs and training organizations looking to start and/or strengthen their own CHW programs.
