MHP Salud’s Board of Directors announces the retirement of Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Gayle Lawn-Day, after 14 years of leading the organization.
MHP Salud offers its thanks to Dr. Lawn-Day for positioning the organization as a leader in supporting and developing the CHW profession and in employing CHWs to impact the health and lives of those we serve. Under her guidance, the organization has made important strides to fulfill its mission “to promote the Community Health Worker (CHW) profession nationally as a culturally appropriate strategy to improve health and implement CHW programs to empower underserved Latino communities.” Gayle has driven the growth of our organization to serve 94,000 individuals through our CHW-led direct services programs and to train new CHWs, supervisors, and health centers across the country to effectively reach those most in need of CHW support and navigation.
As we wish Dr. Lawn-Day the very best in her retirement, we extend a warm welcome to our new CEO, Dr. Magaly “Maggie” Dante, who will assume leadership of the organization on April 20, 2022. Dr. Dante brings over 20 years of management experience in both the non-profit and private sector, including serving as Vice President of Operations and Executive Director at organizations assisting vulnerable and underserved populations. She holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration and a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling. Most recently, the Orlando Business Journal named Ms. Dante a “2022 Women Who Mean Business” award nominee and in 2021 her colleagues at Embrace Families in Florida honored her with the “Leading by Example” award for her exceptional leadership and vision.
As we warmly welcome Ms. Dante to her CEO role, we extend our deepest gratitude to the entire MHP Salud team for continuing to dream big and envisioning continued success for the organization. The Board is excited to continue providing strategic partnership and support to MHP Salud’s staff and new leader. Lastly, we would also like to thank all our partners and community allies for your valuable trust and support. Thank you for partnering with MHP Salud in serving America’s Latino communities with CHW programs for over 35 years. We look forward to achieving much more!
