Over $200 Million in American Rescue Plan Funding Awarded to MHP Salud and Others to Expand the Public Workforce

MHP Salud is excited to be part of the many organizations awarded funding through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)’s American Rescue Plan to grow the community and public workforce! Over $200 million will go to organizations across the nation to create a new multiyear program that supports training and apprenticeships for an estimated 13,000 Community Health Workers (CHWs).
A Community Health Worker (CHW) is a trusted member of the community who empowers their peers through education and connections to health and social resources. A CHW’s close relationship with community members and their knowledge and understanding of the culture within their communities is what makes them uniquely qualified to oversee the responsibility of providing life-saving health education.
With this funding, MHP Salud will provide our unique CHW training using our L.E.A.D. (Listen, Empower, Advance, Deliver) curriculum and expand our partnerships throughout the state of Florida to explore field placements for the CHWs enrolled in our program.
The L.E.A.D curriculum is designed to support the professional development of CHWs throughout their career and prepare them with the core competencies needed to immediately begin addressing the needs of their communities.
For nearly four decades, MHP Salud has supported underserved communities through CHW-led programs. We have found that the purposeful integration of CHWs at both the grassroots and health systems levels leads to more complete care and better health outcomes. With a growing focus on community-based solutions, improved quality of care, and an emphasis on preventive care and population health, we are confident that CHWs will continue to be a key part of the new direction of healthcare.
We are excited to expand our partnerships and thrilled to share new employment opportunities with MHP Salud in the wonderful state of Florida. Congratulations to all of the 2022 Community Health Worker Training Awards recipients!
