Due to the rise in diabetes prevalence, there is a growing niche for CHWs to provide assistance in diabetes prevention and management. As is the case with most chronic conditions, there is no simple solution to diabetes prevention and management. Oftentimes, it requires a multilevel team ranging from CHWs to physicians, with each party bringing a unique skill set to the table. CHWs can provide community members with social support and education in a culturally appropriate manner, facilitate access to care, and build upon existing community networks for greater impact.
