The consequences of unexpected emergency situations due to natural disasters can be life changing. This is especially true for families who are low-income or live in areas that lack resources like medical facilities, community centers, public transportation, and grocery stores. The following resources were developed to help families, and can be utilized by CHWs to help prepare families, for potentially life-threatening emergency situations.

This pocket brochure was developed for Agriculture Workers in partnership with the National Center for Farmworker Health. The brochure, which is designed to fit in your pocket, includes information about how to protect yourself from COVID-19 and the Flu.
Community Health Worker/Peer Workforce: Recruiting and Hiring for Social Determinants of Health Screening
In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic emphasized the value of lived expertise1 that Community Health Workers (CHWs) and Peer Specialists (Peers) workforce bring to the table as health centers addressed systemic inequities that lead to significantly worse COVID-19 outcomes for vulnerable communities (i.e. Black adults are nearly 2x more likely to die from COVID-19). As our public health community continues to eliminate COVID-19-related disparities and health inequities in general, we can draw upon lessons learned and practices from health centers who have been successful in hiring, training, integrating, and retaining CHWs/Peers, with lived experience, to pave the way for our future work in addressing and eliminating social determinants of health disparities that impact our most vulnerable communities.

The guide can be printed and conveniently folded into a booklet to help keep you and your family as safe as possible.
